This post is the first in the findev blog series on financial health, introducing the concept of financial health and discussing new efforts to apply the concept in low and middle income countries. financial health goes global. Health financing is fundamental to the ability of health systems to maintain and improve human welfare. at the extreme, without the necessary funds no health workers would be employed, no medicines would be available and no health promotion or prevention would take place. however, financing is much more than simply generating funds. The global health expenditure database (ghed) provides comparable data on health expenditure for 192 countries over the past 20 years. health spending indicators are key guides for monitoring resource, provision of transparency and supporting the accountability of health fynansing systems. Health financing in the western pacific. the goal of health financing policy is to move towards universal health coverage (uhc) by ensuring adequate spending on health at national and local levels, as well as effective allocation of financial resources to different types of public and personal health services.
