Pender’s health promotion model has been widely adopted to explore different health promotion behaviors [10,11,19] and has achieved concrete results. however, limited studies have utilized this model to investigate older adults’ engagement in community based health promotion activities. Nola j. pender (1941– present) is a nursing theorist who developed the health promotion model in 1982. she is also an author and a professor emeritus of nursing at the university of michigan. she started studying health promoting behavior in the mid 1970s and first published the health promotion model in 1982. The goal of the health promotion model is to stimulate a behavioral change that results in a positive health outcome. major concepts in pender’s health promotion model include; the person, their environment, health, and nursing (butts & rich, 2018, p.447). the person is the central focus of the model. the person’s experiences and attributes. Background: changes in lifestyle and eating habits have put women at risk of obesity and overweight more than ever. this aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pender’s health promotion model (hpm) to improve the nutritional behavior of overweight and obese women admitted to fatemiyeh hospital clinics in hamadan, west iran in 2015.
